Police say human bones have been found near the apartment where a 21-year-old Texas college student disappeared in March.
A city of Corpus Christi worker discovered the body in the 40-foot-deep well during a routine inspection Monday and contacted authorities.
Caleb Harris, who attended Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi and lived in a nearby campus dorm, went missing around 3 a.m. on March 4 after picking up an Uber Eats order.
Police requested assistance from the city’s fire department in recovering the body from a well inside the sewage collection facility.

of Corpus Christi Caller Times Emergency crews reported descending into the well, retrieving the body and draining the well so it could be sent to the coroner’s office.
Police said the area had already been searched shortly after the second-grader went missing.
“This area has been searched multiple times,” a Corpus Christi Police Department spokesperson told the outlet.
Detectives are trying to determine how the body, which has “no obvious signs of homicide,” ended up in the well, according to a press release.

“Due to the advanced state of decomposition of the body, the Medical Examiner’s Office is unable to identify the body at this time or determine the cause or manner of death,” the statement added.
The remains will be sent to the University of North Texas Center for Human Identification (UNTCHI) for DNA analysis.
Harris, from New Braunfels, left her home to pick up an Uber Eats delivery on March 4 but never returned.
The next day, his roommate found the order outside the front door of their apartment.
Police noted he left his keys and wallet in the vehicle.
A GoFundMe campaign for Harris had raised more than $71,000 as of Wednesday morning.
“Let’s help them focus on what matters most – bringing Caleb home safely,” the post read.

Uber told People that the food delivery was completed without any reports and that the driver continued making deliveries earlier that morning.
