Vigil for Charlie Kirk in London
On Friday evening, hundreds gathered in central London to pay tribute to Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA.
This vigil, organized by the British chapter of Turning Point UK, saw a great turnout in Whitehall. Kirk, who was 31, had recently hosted a student debate event for the “America Comeback Tour” and was tragically killed, along with about 3,000 others, at Utah Valley University.
Supporters in London expressed their sorrow over the loss of a prominent advocate for free speech. They waved flags, sang hymns like “Amazing Grace,” and held a candlelight vigil in Parliament Square throughout the night.
A spokesperson for Turning Point UK remarked, “We’re deeply moved by the hundreds of British patriots who came together to honor Charlie. It’s clear that many in England truly admired him.”
They added, “Charlie worked to save America, but he also inspired conservatives globally to reclaim their nations.”
“Though his assassin sought to suppress his voice, it has only amplified our message tremendously.”
Kirk established a Turning Point branch in the UK back in 2019 and intended to visit universities across the country before his untimely death.
Recently, close associates of President Donald Trump visited cities in England, including Oxford and Cambridge, encouraging the British to take pride in their heritage and aim to revive their nation.
Across Europe, similar vigils were held for Kirk and other activists, with events taking place in cities such as Berlin, Madrid, Paris, and Vienna.
Additionally, Kirk was remembered during a moment of silence in Poland’s SEJM parliament, requested by the Conservative Law and Justice (PIS) party.
Polish MPPaweł Jabłoński noted that Kirk was recognized not just in the U.S. but around the globe. He acknowledged that even opponents recognized Kirk’s commitment to dialogue but lamented, “Unfortunately, one individual chose violence and brutally attacked him.”
