BEWARE: ALLIGATORS ARE ON THE LOOSE!
Hurricane Milton, twice a Category 5 in the Gulf of Mexico, was already scary enough with its ripping winds and storm surge. But it appears Milton left another threat behind: Hungry alligators that have been misplaced and scattered all throughout Florida.
Operating a northern Florida animal sanctuary, wildlife expert Christopher Gillette issued a warning to his followers on Instagram that gators “are going to be on the move in the floodwaters” in the aftermath of Milton. “Make sure you’re staying out of the floodwaters the best you can,” said Gillette in a clip where he was crouching next to an alligator. “Obviously there’s emergency situations, people are going to have to do what they got to do, but if you can try, stay out.”
In footage that was obtained by ABC7 News, a resident of North Fort Myers was seen narrowly avoiding a mammoth alligator’s chompers Wednesday night while outside of his house. When the man opened his car door, the gator jumped out of the flooding going on and then started biting at the vehicle that was placed right in front of him.
