Hunter Biden Comments on Political Extremism

In a recent interview, Hunter Biden, son of former President Joe Biden, expressed concerns about political violence while suggesting that Democrats might need to “turn up the temperature” regarding extremism. This discussion took place on the Wide Awake Podcast, hosted by Joshua Rubin. Biden emphasized that both sides of the political spectrum should reduce extremism but acknowledged that it seems to be “escalating.” He indicated skepticism that this would occur.

“I might get in trouble for saying this,” Biden remarked, “but we do need to raise the temperature. We need to make sure people understand what’s going on. I think we won’t reach a solution until we fully confront the issues at hand. It’s like death by a thousand cuts otherwise,” he added.

He clarified that “raising the temperature” does not necessarily equate to inciting violence, stating instead, “It means we should speak truth to power.”

Biden continued by calling for more candid discussions among party members, insisting they should express themselves authentically and not merely speculate on political outcomes. “We need more voices in the Democratic Party who can talk about these things directly, rather than dancing around them,” he said.

He also took aim at CNN host Jake Tapper, criticizing a recent text exchange between Tapper and former President Donald Trump as lacking journalistic integrity. “Having those kinds of chats isn’t real journalism; it’s really a failure of responsibility,” Biden argued.

Biden then referenced CNN political commentator Scott Jennings and expressed concern about how media figures engage with public discourse. He lamented that certain conversations are driven by what he sees as oligarchic influences overwhelming the media landscape.
