Ultimately, it appears Hunter Biden is not above the law.
The president’s son was convicted by a federal jury on all three counts of federal felony firearms violations, the first time a member of a presidential family has been convicted of a crime while his father was in office.
Hunter faces up to 25 years in prison and a $750,000 fine.
“Rather than being disappointed with the outcome, I am grateful for the love and support I have received over the last week from Melissa, my family, friends and the community. Recovery is possible by God’s grace and I am grateful to experience that grace one day at a time,” Hunter said in a statement after his guilty plea.
Many are shocked that Hunter was convicted when his father is literally the President of the United States. Sara Gonzalez He points out that things could be worse for him.
“This is not his first crime. He has committed many crimes, but this is the first time he has been convicted,” Gonzalez said, adding, “So he probably won’t get the maximum sentence.”
The left is ecstatic about this conviction because it can be used to argue that Donald Trump’s conviction was not politically motivated.
“Now that this has happened, I think the left’s playbook is clear: ‘Look, we said no one is above the law, right? No one is above the law, not even the president’s son. This is proof that the justice system works,'” Gonzalez said, mocking Democrats.
Josh Hammer, legal expert and host of “America on Trial,” believes the trial could not have gone any better.
“The primary job of a federal prosecutor is gun crimes and drug crimes, so this is a pretty standard prosecution and to the prosecutor’s credit, they did everything I would have expected them to do,” Hammer said.
“Obviously he’s not going to get 25 years,” he continued, “but will he get any prison time?”
“We can only hope now that he goes to prison, because if a jury finds him guilty, he’ll get a light sentence and then be sent back to drug treatment, a drug treatment program. At that point, we’re back to square one,” he added.
