Hunter Biden Considering Presidential Run in 2028
In a recent interview, Hunter Biden, the son of former President Joe Biden, hinted that he might consider running for president in 2028. Still, he emphasized that he hasn’t made a firm decision yet.
During an episode of “The Cats Roundtable,” host John Catsimatidis asked Hunter if he had any ambitions for the presidency. He responded, “If I get your endorsement, I may have to.” However, when pressed further, he reiterated, “I haven’t made up my mind.”
Biden articulated that if he chose to run, his campaign would largely focus on raising awareness about addiction treatment for Americans. “The things I care most about are the 50 million Americans that are still suffering with their addictions,” he shared.
When questioned about his qualifications for holding office, he referenced the United States Constitution. “Here is my qualification for becoming president: if you believe in the Constitution of the United States of America that you swear to uphold and protect. I want the next president to commit to one thing: adhering to the rule of law,” he mentioned.
This statement raises eyebrows, considering Hunter’s recent legal battles. Just a few months ago, in December 2024, his father granted him a full pardon, eliminating federal gun and tax convictions prior to sentencing.
Hunter has been open about his struggles with addiction, famously calling himself a “former crackhead.” He has also faced scrutiny for allegedly leveraging his father’s vice presidency for personal gain. This controversy gained traction when he left a laptop for repairs at a local shop, leading to its eventual handover to the FBI after concerning content was discovered.
The laptop reportedly contained various explicit images and videos related to drug use and other personal matters, which later became critical evidence in his federal trials.
In praising potential future leaders during the interview, Biden mentioned Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear and Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, stating, “The truth of the matter is that I think we have an incredible bench,” and also expressed his admiration for Gavin Newsom.
