Hunter Conviction Is ‘First Step in Delivering Accountability for Biden Crime Family’

WASHINGTON, DC – House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik (R-NY) said Tuesday’s federal conviction of Hunter Biden on three firearms charges is “a first step toward holding the Biden crime family accountable.”

Steerfnick spoke about the ruling at an E-PAC event to promote the Republican women candidates he supports for Congress this term, and the first question from reporters was for his reaction to the ruling.

“First, let’s remember that it was Joe Biden’s corrupt Justice Department that tried to negotiate a sweet plea deal with immunity from outsiders that had nothing to do with this case, and it was a judge that stepped in to expose it,” she said.

Hunter Biden was initially offered a plea deal in the case, but it ultimately fell apart following court scrutiny of the “diversion agreement.”

Breitbart News explained:

The original “Sweetheart” plea bargain Gave Hunter pleaded guilty to failing to pay taxes on more than $1.5 million in income in 2017 and 2018 and was given the option of probation rather than prison. In addition, special prosecutor David Weiss devised another diversion agreement that would grant Hunter immunity from potential future charges, including: wipe Felony firearm violations were removed from his record.

Judge Weiss then indicted Hunter on tax evasion charges in California, with a trial scheduled for September.

Steafnick argued that the convictions in the case were “the first step toward holding the Biden crime family accountable,” and stressed that House Republicans must move forward with a separate investigation into the Biden family.

“As House Republicans, we must and will continue to investigate the Biden crime family for the corrupt influence scheme that generated over $18 million in overseas payments to members of the Biden crime family,” she said.

According to court documents, the president’s son faces up to 25 years in prison and a $750,000 fine. He was charged with one count of making a false statement in connection with a firearm purchase, one count of making a false statement regarding information required to be kept by a federally licensed firearms dealer, and one count of possession of a firearm by an unlawful user or addict of a controlled substance.
