Hunter Biden’s missing revolver appeared at his firearms trial for the first time in six years since the FBI became involved in the disappearance of a firearm that was found in a Delaware trash can.
Text messages from Hunter previously emerged that appeared to contradict official statements from the Secret Service. had They claim they are “not involved” in the incident in which Hunter’s ex-girlfriend, Hallie Biden, found a gun “in Hunter Biden’s pickup truck” and “threw it into a dumpster behind a grocery store where the two often shopped.” However, as Breitbart News reported in 2021, Hunter’s text messages state that “police, the FBI and the Secret Service arrived on the scene.”
The owner of the gun store that sold Hunter the gun reportedly refused to provide the paperwork the Secret Service allegedly used to retrieve the gun at the time of the incident because he suspected Secret Service agents would shield the documents from scrutiny.
During Wednesday’s court hearing, Justice Department prosecutors showed the gun to jurors and former gun store employee Gordon Cleveland, who sold it to Hunter, for inspection. Jurors “craned their necks” to see the gun so Cleveland could check it. He Verified And he will do so immediately, according to a court reporter.
Cleveland testified that when he bought a gun in 2018, he told Hunter he wanted to “take his time” filling out federal forms before making the purchase. He also said he saw Hunter mark “no” when asked if he was an illegal drug user.
A variety of photos from that time found on a laptop Hunter left behind showed he was using crack cocaine at the time he purchased the gun.
Hunter is charged with one count of making a false statement regarding the purchase of a firearm, one count of possession of a firearm by an unlawful user or addict of a controlled substance, and one count of making a false statement regarding information required to be kept by a federally licensed firearms dealer.
Cleveland testified that he left his job at a sporting goods store in 2021 due to health issues, NBC News report:
Further questioning seemed to lean closer to the prosecution’s theory that Hunter Biden bought a gun to protect himself during a drug deal. Hines asked Cleveland what happened to Biden after he filled out the ATF paperwork. Cleveland said they discussed other things they needed along with the gun, like speed loaders and ammunition.
Cleveland said they discussed two different types of ammunition: full metal jacket bullets, suitable for use at a shooting range, and hollow-point bullets, suitable for self-defense. Cleveland explained to Hunter how to use them. Hunter chose the hollow-point bullets.
Hines then removed the box and asked Cleveland to identify it. Inside was 25 to 30 rounds of American Gunner hollow point ammunition matching the ones Hunter Biden had purchased that day. Hines showed the box to the jury, as he had done with the revolver. A photograph of the box was also displayed.
Just before 5 p.m. ET, the trial was adjourned until 9 a.m. Thursday, when Cleveland will remain on the stand.
