Hurricane Beryl leaves more than 1.3 million people without power
More than 1.3 million customers were affected by power outages caused by Hurricane Beryl, according to power company CenterPoint Energy.
According to the power company’s outage tracking system, 1,343,938 customers are without power due to the dangerous hurricane.
CenterPoint Energy said in a post on X that it was “working hard” to address power issues caused by high winds and flash flooding.
“Once it is safe to do so, our crews will be on site to assess the damage and begin developing a recovery plan,” the company said.

More than 150,000 customers in Texas are without power after the Category 1 hurricane made landfall early Monday.
153,759 households, mostly concentrated in southeast Texas. do not have Hurricane Beryl strengthens as it moves northward.

Hurricane Beryl remains dangerous since making landfall in Texas early Monday morning.
Forecasters are warning that the hurricane will bring heavy rain, flash flooding and strong winds as it moves north through the Lone Star State.
“Beryl continues to move north. Heavy rains are causing flooding in areas around Houston. Continued rain will worsen ongoing problems. High winds and gusts continue,” the National Weather Service in Houston reported.
Forecasters also warned that isolated tornadoes remain possible.

Hurricane Beryl makes landfall in Texas with winds of 75 mph
Hurricane Beryl struck the Texas coast near Houston, according to the National Weather Service.
The hurricane, with sustained winds of 75 mph (120 kph), was moving northwest at 10 mph and made landfall near Matagorda.
Beryl had already flooded parts of Texas, and coastal residents were boarding up windows and evacuation orders were issued in seaside towns as the storm carved a deadly path through parts of Mexico and the Caribbean.
Tornado watches have been issued for an area of more than 7 million people, according to the Storm Prediction Center.
Flood watches have also been issued for parts of East Texas. Temperatures along the Texas coast are expected to reach above 90 degrees Fahrenheit (32 degrees Celsius) over the next few days, with the heat index reaching 108 degrees Fahrenheit (42 degrees Celsius) on Sunday.
