Ward said she is looking forward to getting the children new beds and chairs to sit on. After the hurricane, he stayed in a cabin for a while before sleeping in his camper.

Despite all his tribulations, he reflected on how his faith carried him through.

“I kind of learned that you just have to take it one day at a time,” he reflected. “I just had to wait for God to bless me, then wait for God to bless me, then wait for God to bless me again. Basically that's it. That’s what I’m waiting for.”

Wine to Water's Donna Dunham told Fox News that “there is still a lot of work to be done” amid the devastation left in North Carolina.

“We still have people on our list who need home repairs and we have people and volunteers working with us to help with that, as well as introducing tiny houses and campers to get people out of the cold. “I'm trying,” she said. “So it’s a lot of work and it’s 100% a group effort.”

Even in the midst of the devastation, Ward said, neighbors are supporting each other.

“Everyone is kind of on a team with each other, including the neighbors,” he said. “I met neighbors I didn't know before. I was just in awe. I'm so humbled by this.”
