Labor Secretary’s Husband Expelled Amid Allegations

Lori Chavez Delemer, the Labor Secretary, faces increasing scrutiny as her husband, Dr. Sean Delemer, has been expelled from the department’s headquarters. This action follows accusations of sexual assault involving at least two female employees working in the same building.

According to a report by The New York Times, one incident allegedly occurred on December 18, when Delemer was accused of hugging a woman for an excessive amount of time during work hours. Investigators are reviewing video footage as part of a criminal probe into the anesthesiologist based in Portland.

Sources have indicated that Delemer was effectively locked out of the building, prompting the Washington Metropolitan Police Department to be notified.

Interestingly, this expulsion came just as “Melania,” a documentary about the First Lady, premiered at the Trump Kennedy Center in late January, a week when Delemer was suspended.

A police report, which surfaced on January 24, detailed the complainant’s account of “involuntary sexual contact” at the Department of Labor’s D.C. headquarters. The case is currently being treated as a misdemeanor sexual abuse matter.

The two women who reported the incidents came forward during an investigation by the department’s inspector general into alleged misconduct by both Chavez Delemer and two aides of his.

Dr. Delemer, now 57, has been barred from entering the building after the complaints were raised. As stated in a notification seen by The New York Times, “If Mr. Delemer attempts to enter, he will be asked to leave.”

Requests for comments from the Department of Labor’s attorneys, as well as from both Delemer and Chavez Delemer, went unanswered.

Recently, allegations emerged that Chavez Delemer abused his position by engaging in an “inappropriate” relationship with a member of his security detail. He has also been accused of drinking alcohol in the office while working, alongside committing “travel fraud.” This involves having staff members fabricate trips that allowed him to spend time with family and friends, funded by taxpayer money.

The scrutiny includes a controversial trip to a strip club in Oregon with his staff shortly after his Senate confirmation.

To add to the complexities, the Senate Judiciary Committee has initiated its own investigation into these allegations. The security personnel associated with Chavez Delemer, including Chief of Staff Jihoon Han and Deputy Chief of Staff Rebecca Wright, have all been placed on leave.
