Husband of missing boater Lynette Hooker provided maps indicating where she went overboard, according to a report.

A rower has been arrested in connection with his wife’s mysterious disappearance in the Bahamas. He shared a map with friends and fellow boaters, outlining the couple’s boating journey and highlighting the spot where he claims his wife fell overboard.

On April 8, Brian Hooker, 59, was taken into custody, just four days after his wife Lynette, aged 55, reported that she had fallen from their dinghy while they were returning to their yacht.

While rescue efforts were still ongoing, Brian circulated a map showing where Lynette went missing. The details were first reported by CBS News.

He also allegedly provided the same map to law enforcement. It seems to be a screenshot from Navionics, a GPS navigation app favored by boaters. Brian edited the map to indicate various locations along the route, insisting that Lynette fell overboard while they were taking her back to the yacht.

It has been reported that Lynette was pulled out to sea along with the keys for the dinghy’s motor, leaving Brian behind on a deflated inflatable. The map includes a note about a “drift and row” trip back to shore, which he claims took nine hours.

While no formal charges have been brought against Brian, he remains the sole suspect in the case of the missing Michigan mother, causing concern for her heartbroken daughter.

Lynette’s daughter from a previous relationship mentioned that her mother and stepfather often had disagreements, particularly regarding alcohol use. She recalled instances of Brian’s temper, including a prior threat to “strangle Lynette and throw her overboard.”

As the search transitioned into a recovery operation, Brian maintained he had no involvement in his wife’s disappearance and expressed his shock via a statement on Facebook.

Interestingly, his estranged stepmother urged him to be honest about the situation. “If he did what people think—pushing her off the boat—he needs to tell the truth,” Donna Hooker said. She expressed regret that the couple married, suggesting their relationship had soured over time.

Brian and Lynette had been married for around 25 years and had previously separated before getting back together.

Until at least 7 PM on Monday, Brian will remain in custody as the Royal Bahamas Police Force considers potential criminal charges.
