Husband of missing Texas mom of 4, Suzanne Simpson, arrested after neighbor heard screams

The husband and associate of a missing Texas mother of four says neighbors saw the couple in a violent argument and heard screams the night she went missing. He was arrested on Wednesday after police learned of the incident.

Brad Simpson, 53, has been charged with domestic violence, unlawful restraint and assault causing bodily harm in connection with the Sunday night incident with Suzanne Simpson, his wife of 22 years, police said.

Suzanne, 51, a real estate agent, has not been seen or heard from since Sunday night, when she attended a party at the Argyle in San Antonio's Alamo Heights neighborhood, officials said.

Her family and friends said it was unlike her to simply disappear.

“Suzanne was known as a very loving and trusting person, especially with her children and her work. She was not at work and had no contact with her children. [it’s] This is extremely unusual,” Olmos Park Police Chief Fidel Villegas said at a press conference. Broadcast on WOAI News 4.

She was reported missing by her husband on Monday, and investigators learned that a neighbor had seen the two fighting outside their home after a party that night.

According to a copy of the arrest affidavit, a neighbor told police that between 10 and 11 p.m., he heard an argument outside his window, looked outside and saw the Simpsons arguing. He claimed to have discovered it. Retrieved from KSAT12 News.

Suzanne was trying to get away from her husband as he was trying to “control her body,” according to the documents, and “she was clearly trying to prevent Mr. Simpson from escaping,” the neighbor said.

Minutes later, she saw the couple leave and went outside with a flashlight to investigate. She said she heard “a couple of screams” coming from a wooded area near the home and ran back inside. told the police.

About an hour later, the same neighbor spotted Brad leaving the home in a black 2019 GMC pickup truck. Neighbors said he returned an hour or two later.

Investigators are now asking the public to report sightings of the pickup between Monday morning and Tuesday night.

Suzanne did not pick up any of the children from school the next day.

Officials at the child's school told investigators that the child said his father hurt his mother and took her cell phone, according to the affidavit.

The affidavit states that Brad fled to a ranch in Bandera County sometime that week and “appeared to be estranged from his family.”

According to investigators, the suspect was uncooperative with the search for his missing wife and did not appear during police questioning. He is currently being held in the county jail.

Investigators were searching the family's home and surrounding woods Wednesday.
