Husband Supports Wife Convicted of Sexual Assault

A Minnesota man has chosen to stand by his wife, Alison Schardin, who was convicted of sexually assaulting two 15-year-old hockey players they met while on a family “staycation.” This decision is unexpected, particularly considering the circumstances surrounding their case.

Anthony, Schardin’s husband, confirmed their relationship remains intact, stating they are trying to keep a low profile. This comes a few months after a third boy was added to the sex offender registry in January 2024 due to similar conduct with the two teenagers, as reported by The Daily Mail.

When asked by reporters about their relationship, Anthony simply responded, “Yes,” when asked if they were still together.

The 52-year-old mentioned the couple’s efforts to avoid the public eye. Schardin, 40, avoided prison time by pleading guilty to third-degree criminal sexual conduct. Her sentence, handed down in January 2025, included two weekends in jail, community service, and five years of probation.

According to prosecutors, Schardin met the teenage athletes in a hotel hot tub in Roseville on January 14, 2024, while on vacation with her family. They were in town for a hockey tournament. During their conversation, she shared personal issues regarding her marriage and later exchanged contact details with the minors after a confrontation with her husband.

In a Snapchat message, she invited one of the boys to her room following an argument with Anthony. The complaint states she explicitly remarked that they were “young enough to be her children” and pressured them into sexual activity while another boy watched.

One victim described feeling unable to refuse her advances. Following the incidents, Schardin reportedly tracked the boys to a hockey rink the next day, which made them uncomfortable and prompted them to describe her behavior as “creepy.” She continued to contact them, pleading that they stay silent about the events and expressing remorse.

Records indicate that Anthony filed for divorce in December 2023, mere weeks before the disturbing incident took place. However, both he and Schardin later sought to nullify the divorce filing, which was eventually dismissed a year later.
