Hyundai recalls nearly 50K SUVs across US over issue that could affect airbag

More than 49,700 Hyundai Santa Fe and Santa Fe HEV sports utility vehicles (SUVs) are being recalled in the United States for an issue that may affect the functioning of airbags.

The recalled SUVs, all of which are 2024 model years, are due to a problem with the main floor wiring harness that could “result in the airbag warning light being illuminated, airbags deploying unexpectedly, and/or airbags failing to deploy during a crash,” the research firm said in a statement. Recall Reporting The report was submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on July 26.

“The main floor wiring harness used in affected vehicles may be damaged by contact with the passenger side second row bench seat folding hinge assembly,” the report explains.
