‘I Always Wanted to Kill Somebody’

A 20-year-old Fort Wayne, Indiana man arrested in connection with a shooting at a Kroger store reportedly told police he had “always wanted to kill someone.”

W.T.H.R. report The man live-streamed the shooting on Facebook Live and asked his followers to record it in case authorities removed it.

He began his livestream at 6:15pm on Thursday from the second floor of the grocery store, asking his Facebook followers to choose his first victim as he walked downstairs. He allegedly said he was going to kill 11 people. His handgun was loaded with 11 bullets.

The 20-year-old man passed the old man but did not shoot him, instead allegedly saying, “I’m not going to kill an old man.”

21 Alive News I got it. The 20-year-old man is said to have walked around the store and said, “I’m going out with a bang.”

The suspect then arrived in the bakery area and allegedly shot a female shopper and two bakery employees. He missed the three and fled the store, changing his shirt at a nearby Dollar General before throwing his gun and wallet in a trash can. Police recovered a .40 caliber handgun and wallet and arrested the suspect.

The 20-year-old man reportedly told police he chose to shoot those he targeted because they were not hiding.

On September 4, 2019, Breitbart News reported that Kroger had issued an order banning shoppers from openly carrying handguns for self-defense, even in states where open carry is legal. Additionally, Kroger called on Congress to pass further gun control measures.
