Former President Donald Trump described himself as a “political prisoner of a nation in decline,” days after a Manhattan jury convicted him in his business records trial.
Trump video At Truth Social on Tuesday, he emphasized how Nov. 5 was “the most important day in the history of our country.”
The former president’s video was released nearly a week after a jury found him guilty of 34 counts of first-degree falsifying business records related to payments made by Trump’s former fixer and lawyer, Michael Cohen, to adult actress Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential election.
“I am a political prisoner of a nation in decline,” Trump began, “but on November 5th, the most important day in our nation’s history, I will soon be released. And together, we will Make America Great Again. Thank you.”

After the guilty verdict, President Trump told reporters that it was “an attempt by the Biden administration to hurt their opponents, their political opponents,” and that the verdict was a “fraudulent decision.”
The former president added that the “real verdict” would be “handed down by the people on November 5th.”
Since his conviction, donations have been pouring in to the Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee (RNC). The Trump campaign said it and the RNC raised $141 million in donations in May.
The announcement came after it was revealed that the Trump campaign had received about $53 million in donations in the 24 hours following Trump’s conviction.
A HarrisX poll conducted overnight after a Manhattan jury convicted Trump found that if the election were held today, 43% of people said they would vote for Trump, 42% said they would vote for Biden, and 14% said they were undecided.
Trump’s favorability rating was also reported to have increased slightly since his conviction.
An ABC News poll taken after Trump’s conviction found that 31% of Americans have a favorable view of Trump, up from 29% in March, while 32% have a favorable view of Biden, down from 33%.
