Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.) said Sunday on CNN's “State of the Union” that Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk brought the spending bill to the fight on Capitol Hill last week. He said he values transparency.
“We've been bringing spending bills to the U.S. Senate since this summer, and Chuck Schumer has refused to name them,” Hagerty said. They produce products that we don't understand. Dumping over 1,500 pages, Elon Musk used the tool of Twitter to bring transparency to the whole thing. The American public was shocked. We were left without proper scrutiny. I’m always shocked when I see this kind of monster.”
He added: “President Trump was able to clearly state his position and say this has to stop. This has to go thin. This has to change. My biggest goal in working on this is that President Trump It was to prevent the government from shutting down due to the need to process candidates on January 20, as three-quarters of Americans feel the United States is currently heading in the wrong direction. We need to create a system that allows us to get to work on a daily basis.”
“I appreciate the fact that Elon Musk was able to make this transparent and that we were actually able to improve this. We didn't get everything we wanted. That's true,” Hagerty said. I wasn't, but I'm in a better position now because I'll be in a position to see if President Trump is ready from day one.”
