During an online segment of HBO’s “Real Time” on Friday, Donna Brazile, an ABC News contributor and former chair of the Democratic National Committee, mentioned that Disney is planning to open a new theme park and resort in Abu Dhabi, part of the United Arab Emirates.
Brazile expressed her approval, stating, “That’s a good thing. Mickey and Minnie should be accessible to everyone. What’s the issue? I’m all for ensuring American products and brands have a global presence.” She also shared her long-standing affection for Mickey Mouse.
Host Bill Maher chimed in, noting that Mickey Mouse has a fondness for him too, but added, “I think we might enter a more progressive era similar to Abu Dhabi’s version of Orlando. I wonder what that will look like?”
Brazile replied, “No, it won’t happen… they’ll skip it.”
Representative Mike Lawler (R-NY) agreed, saying, “I think they might skip that.”
