I believe I may have Covid.

I believe I may have Covid.

No, not Morse. I mean me.

Last night, I felt fine. However, this morning? A horrible sore throat and an ache all over, like I’d just been punched by Tinyhands McFelony in some awful cage match. I took some Tylenol and pushed through my morning routine because, well, the animals need to be fed, and there’s no one else to do it.

I found a test kit from last year, followed the instructions carefully—it’s a bit trickier than a pregnancy test—and noticed a faint pink line on “T.” According to both the manufacturer and what I read online, that still counts as positive.

I think I’ll wait until this evening to test again. I don’t want to jump to conclusions. For now, I’m not going anywhere, except maybe back to bed.

I got my first vaccination as soon as it was available and I kept up with the boosters. But last year, it just wasn’t available in my area. I called the county health department for weeks to see if it had arrived, but it never did, so I eventually gave up.

This is really frustrating.

Edit: My daughter brought me a new test. The ones I have were sent last year with a note saying to ignore the expiration date of 2024. I’m a bit skeptical of those, so I figured a new one was a safer option. I plan to use the new test this evening. It turns out the Covid boosters are available now at my pharmacy. 🙃

Interestingly, my personal doctor isn’t at the office anymore. I do have an appointment with the new one they assigned me, but that’s not until August. I’ll call the office to see about getting antiviral medication sooner.

Thanks for all the good advice and well wishes. Seriously, you all are great!

Second edit: I called my doctor’s office. They suggested I ring back early tomorrow morning since I’m not showing any severe symptoms at the moment. If I can snag a same-day appointment, I might be able to get the antiviral medication. If things worsen, then it’s off to the ER for me. I should mention that I’m on AHCCCS, which is Arizona’s Medicaid, and that could affect my ability to get the antiviral meds.

As of now, my symptoms are pretty similar to what I felt with my boosters. Everything hurts, including my head, and I have a sore throat and a fever, but thankfully no coughing or chest pain.

I just tested positive again a few minutes ago.
