I can allow air traffic controllers to remain until 60 and support increasing the retirement age to 65.

During a discussion on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” Transport Secretary Shawn Duffy mentioned a proposal to raise the retirement age for air traffic controllers from the current 56 to 65 years old.

Host Sean Hannity raised a concern, noting the pressing nature of the situation. He asked if controllers, who must retire in their 50s, could be brought back into the workforce.

Duffy confirmed, stating, “Yes, we can bring them back. They might need some retraining, but we can reintroduce retired controllers into the system.” He emphasized the current retirement age is indeed 56.

Hannity then suggested a change to 65, to which Duffy expressed agreement, acknowledging Hannity’s passion for aviation and thanking him for highlighting the issue. Duffy framed the effort as historically significant for America, stating, “We can do it, we are America.”
