The son of the shooter who targeted former President Trump on a Florida golf course on Sunday said his father hated Trump “like every reasonable person” but insisted his father was not a violent person, according to reports.
Oran Routh told the Daily Mail that his father, Ryan Routh, who was arrested on suspicion of attempted assassination, was not a fan of the Republican candidate.
“I don't like Trump either,” he said.
But his brother Routh, 35, insisted their father was not violent and said he was shocked to hear the allegations.
“He's my father and as far as I know he's only had a couple of traffic tickets,” his son told the Daily Mail. “It's crazy. I know my dad and I love him but that's just not who he is.”
“He's not a violent person,” Orlan Routh added. “He's a hard worker, he's a great father. He's a great guy, a good person, he's worked his whole life.”
Authorities said Ryan Routh possessed a sniper and was several hundred yards away from Trump as he played golf at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach.

Secret Service agents found the suspect with the muzzle of a rifle stuck into a chain link fence outside the golf club.
After officers opened fire, Routh fled but was arrested a short time later.
