Actress Kim Basinger, who herself is used to film sex scenes, expressed ambiguity in the rise of “coordinators of intimacy” during the post-metou era.
Talk to Variety In a recent interview about her renowned career, the former Batman and 9 1/2 weeks Star likened the intimate coordinator to a “supervised visit.”
“I can't imagine someone coming to me and saying, 'Don't you mind if they put their hands here?” It's another person in the room. We either solve it or we don't,” she said. “We don't see any need for monitored visits.”
Actress Mikey Madison recently sparked controversy when she revealed that she didn't want an intimacy coordinator on set during filming Anora.
“That was a choice I made.” Madison said in a conversation with Pamela Anderson VarietyActors.
Madison said director Sean Baker and his wife, producer Samantha Quan, provided an intimate coordinator, but she and her co-stars ultimately decided that “it's best to keep it small.”
“We streamlined it and we were able to shoot it right away,” Madison said.
“With the adjustment of intimacy, I think it's a case-by-case foundation and the foundation of the film. If an actor asks 100%. But I've directed about 10 sex scenes throughout my career and it's very comfortable. It's our number one priority to have our actors safe, protected, comfortable and involved in the process,” she said later. Variety.
Actor Michael Douglas recently suggested that filming of the sex scenes is suppressed by the presence of an intimate coordinator in Post Meto Hollywood.
“I'm past the time when I have to worry about it, but it's interesting for all intimacy coordinators,” he said. “It feels like the executives are in control from the filmmakers, but there were some horrifying fake passes and harassment.”
“The sex scenes are like battle scenes. They're all choreographed. In my experience, you're responsible as a man to make sure the women are comfortable. You say, “Okay, if that's okay, I'm going to touch you here.” It's very slow, but appears to be happening organically.
Douglas also said that the actor who gained a bad reputation for intimate scenes would be dealt with by losing his job.
“I'm sure there are people who have crossed boundaries, but before, we were like we were taking care of ourselves. They'll get a reputation, and it'll take care of them.
“But I spoke to a woman. [because] I did some of those sex movies – sexual movies – and we're now joking about it.
