Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) called President Joe Biden’s decision to limit liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports a “short-sighted decision” on this week’s “Fox News Sunday” broadcast. He said he does not support it.
Anchor Shannon Bream asked, “What do you think about this question about President Biden withdrawing and restricting exports of liquefied natural gas? Because a lot of people say that would empower Putin. “Because the Europeans who rely on exports from us are doing it.” . It’s not available now. I’ll have to look elsewhere. I can see you claiming it gives him an advantage when we should be pushing him. ”
“I actually don’t support what President Biden is doing there,” Bennett said.
He added: “I think American liquefied natural gas was very important to replace the natural gas that Russia was sending to Europe.” I think it’s important for us to make money by selling natural gas compared to other countries in the world like Qatar. So I believe that one of the great strategic strengths of the United States is American energy, clean energy, fossil fuels. I think that’s a short-sighted decision. ”
