On Tuesday, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) denied any effort to oust him from the speakership on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends.”
Republicans in Louiana are totally in the dark as Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) joins a motion to repeal an effort started by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) He said he was not worried.
“I have two questions. One, are you still worried?” FNC host Steve Doocy asked. “And two, if they vote to resign and you are removed from office, if you resign from Congress, that could theoretically give Democrats a majority in the House. ”
“Look, nothing like that is going to happen,” Johnson replied. “I’m not worried about the resignation motion at all. I’m here to do my job. I don’t think that’s going to happen. What a lot of people were worried about was the fact that everything would be in a unified Senate.” I think it’s been pushed to pass a supplemental bill again, which is what I and my friends and conservatives like the Freedom Caucus and others want us to do. Our goal is to make regular parliamentary processes work, and that’s exactly what we’re seeing this week.”
“So, again, I think everyone can vote their conscience individually on each of these measures and that will resolve their concerns,” he added. “No, I’m not worried at all.”
