Trump Discusses Greenland on Meet the Press
During an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” President Donald Trump dismissed the idea of U.S. troops being used to seize Greenland, although he acknowledged its importance for national security.
Host Kristen Welker questioned him, asking, “You mentioned not ruling anything out for Greenland. Does that include military action to take Canada?”
Trump responded, “I doubt we’ll reach that stage. However, unexpected things can happen in Greenland, and it honestly is essential for security both domestically and internationally.”
Welker pressed on, “What about Canada?”
Trump replied, “I find that highly unlikely. I’m not considering it, to be honest.”
Welker noted, “I can’t completely rule it out for Greenland.”
Trump mentioned, “By the way, Canada is less of a concern than any other country. They think we are trying to shield them, but we don’t get an equitable share, which isn’t fair to the U.S. and our taxpayers.”
Welker pointed out, “So you’re not planning to use military force for Greenland.”
Trump reiterated, “I’m not planning on it, but I can’t completely dismiss it. Greenland is very important.”
