I Favor Expelling George Santos if He Doesn’t Resign Before Thanksgiving

Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.) said Thursday on MSNBC’s “The Andrea Mitchell Report” that a House Ethics Committee report found Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) misused campaign funds. In response to the revelation, he said he is now in favor of expelling the lawmaker.

Mitchell said, “You weren’t in favor of expulsion before. Do you have this ethics report yet?”

Buck said: I hope George does the right thing and resigns and leaves Congress. The Thanksgiving holiday is the perfect time to do it. Please clean his office. ”

He added, “But I didn’t vote to oust George in the past because I didn’t believe there was due process.” He had not been sentenced. So I think the Ethics Commission really gave him an opportunity. He didn’t take advantage of that opportunity. The Ethics Commission found that he was not cooperating with the investigation. “And now I think he’s been given fair due process.”

Mitchell said, “And if he doesn’t resign within a reasonable period of time, I think Thanksgiving would be a good time, as you point out, or would some other holiday be a good time? If that’s the case. , do you support the expulsion resolution?”

“I support it and I believe Speaker Johnson will get it done sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas,” Buck said.
