I Feel Let Down By My Country

De Niro Leads Rally Against Trump

Robert De Niro spearheaded the “State of the Swamp” rally on Tuesday night, passionately urging attendees to “take to the streets” in opposition to President Donald Trump. “I feel betrayed by my country,” the Raging Bull star remarked.

“In short, we feel betrayed by our country,” De Niro told supporters at the event. “We don’t need to be perfect, but we must return to the values that once provided us with strength and humanity.”

He emphasized, “If you want our nation’s leaders to be accountable, if you are committed to the Constitution and the rule of law, if you want the United States to be worthy of your love, then prepare to stand with us. We will take our country back,” he added.

Later, De Niro voiced concerns about a previous incident involving Jimmy Kimmel, who had been briefly removed from the air after spreading misinformation about Charlie Kirk’s assassination, speaking to issues of freedom of speech.

“We, the people, must never accept governmental threats against our freedom of expression,” he asserted. However, he did not reference another significant event from five months ago, where Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was shot during a discussion at Utah Valley University.

“Our country isn’t very lovable right now,” the Taxi Driver star continued, stating that expressing love for the country in the current climate feels akin to an abused spouse professing love for their abuser.

De Niro expressed a bleak outlook, claiming, “We are currently living in a country governed by a small group of dishonest, greedy authoritarians,” while accusing the Trump administration of acting like “government thugs” who are shooting people in the streets.

The actor made the startling claim that Trump might attempt to “steal” the upcoming midterm elections, referring to the January 6 events as “just a rehearsal for what’s to come.”

“We the people are the only ones who can stop him,” De Niro declared, revealing his feelings of anger and resentment.

Recently, he referred to Trump as an “enemy of this country,” urging Americans to “resist” against a president who achieved a significant victory in the 2024 election, insisting, “It’s up to us to remove him.”

De Niro went so far as to suggest that the MAGA movement, comprising over 77 million supporters, needs to be completely “neutralized.”

“Even if President Trump were to pass away for any reason, people won’t just disappear. Part of that movement remains, and that’s a frightening reality,” he said. “It has to be neutralized by the people.”
