Comedian Kathy Griffin recently shared that she joined the dating app Hinge, admitting, “I have a lot of fear about men, gender as a whole.”
In a post on Monday, Griffin explained that what began as a lighthearted jest with fellow comedian Nia Vardalos led her to create a profile on Hinge.
“Why can’t I find a great partner in a law firm or a semi-retired firefighter?” she questioned. She then added that she has “never received a penis photo” and has “never sent a vagina photo” either.
“Honestly, I’m not even sure why I want to date a guy,” Griffin reflected. “I have a home that’s paid off, four dogs, and I read three books a week. Plus, I have a wonderful best friend.”
“I’ve survived cancer and, in some ways, an international political scandal involving those infamous photographs that seem to linger,” she continued.
Griffin also mentioned that being a female comedian can create a unique predicament for men, suggesting that they need to “trust” their dating choices while information about her is readily available online.
“If you Google my name, you’ll find articles about how old and unattractive I am after my facelift, along with countless paparazzi photos of me during my regular hikes.”
When discussing her dating profile, Griffin noted her enjoyment of walks and stated she leans “very politically liberal,” humorously adding that “no guy thinks Joe Rogan is their favorite peer.”
“I consider myself a real-life, old-fashioned girl,” she remarked.
As for handling potential online comments, Griffin decided, “I won’t read them myself. I’ll have my assistant go through them first and let me know if I should consider closing my account or if I should stick it out for a week.”
