I Had ‘No Way of Understanding’ How the Song Would Apply to My Life

Singer-songwriter and Breitbart News chief operating officer John Kahn said during an appearance on the show that he had no way of understanding how the song “Fighter” applied to him personally. . Breitbart News Saturdayhe experiences a sense of personal loss after losing his home in the California wildfires.

“Like you said, I wrote it for President Trump, but hearing those words now, I wonder how it applies to my own life and others that have been destroyed by this fire. I had no way of understanding how it applied to so many people's lives,'' he said, noting that he has lived in his Pacific Palisades home for 25 years.

The fire initially started in the mountains and was “quite a distance away,” he said, adding that similar horrors had occurred in the past, but not on this scale.

“I'm not evacuating because if you look at that fire from where I live, it's in the Palisades, as far away from the mountains as you can get, right on the cliffs overlooking the ocean.” “You would think the only way homes would be at risk is if the entire city of Pacific Palisades was destroyed,” he said. “And unbelievably, that’s exactly what happened.”

Khan said he was now told to get up and evacuate, so he put his belongings in the car and drove six miles to his father's apartment. It took two and a half hours by car.

“And by the time I got there, I looked at my Ring camera and my house was on fire. That's how it happened,” he revealed, noting that he is one of the thousands who have experienced the same loss. did.

“This isn't just a house, it's a home,” he said, explaining that “it was just devastating to so many people, so many memories.”

Khan added that this is “a new chapter and I'm probably going to take a cue from my lyrics and keep getting up and swinging.”

“I didn't realize how close it was to my house. So, you know, it was hard to listen to that song. I'm not going to lie, I wanted to hear that song. Thank you for playing.” he added.

“There's a reason why it's No. 1, right?” Boyle said. “I think it really… taps into the spirit of Americans, not just Trump supporters. It's just the spirit of America. ”

Asked what happens next, Khan said there is “a lot to navigate” and “a lot of unknowns.”

listen:

“What's so difficult about going through something like this, and what so many others are going through, is not only the grief of the loss, but also the unknown that lies ahead. I think so. …You know, I've been spending a lot of time in Nashville. I don't know if I'll ever get there. Right now, I'm in a hotel room, my car is in a friend's garage. And it's like, I don't really know what the next step is going to be. …It's like Mr. Miyagi's bonsai. , you just make it look like the picture you have in your head,” he explained.

“And this is a pretty big mountain to climb and a pretty big bonsai tree, so I'm going to keep cutting it down and trying to get it under control and move on,” he added.
