CHICAGO, Illinois – Rep. Dan Goldman (D-New York) told Breitbart News that he believes the number of pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel protesters at the Democratic National Convention is “lower than their voices would suggest.”
Breitbart News met with Goldman, who served as general counsel in the failed anti-Trump impeachment lawsuits in 2019 and 2020, inside the United Center on Wednesday before the start of the convention’s third night.
Breitbart News noted the protests outside the Democratic National Committee’s security perimeter and asked Goldman whether, with 75 days until the election, Harris faces the challenge of having to appeal to far-left Democrats who want her gone while also appealing to moderate voters.
“The truth is, I haven’t really heard much from the protesters, and I think they’re a much smaller group than their voices would suggest,” Goldman said, “and I think what you’re seeing is a crucial difference between anti-Semitic extremists and progressive liberal moderate Democrats who fight hatred of any kind. That’s what’s being alienated.”
“And ultimately what President Biden and Vice President Harris want, and what the Democratic Party wants, is for Israelis and Palestinians to live in peace and security with their right to self-determination, and that’s a goal that we share with our Democratic allies in Israel and that’s something the Democratic Party will continue to promote,” he added.
After more than 500,000 Democratic voters cast their votes for Biden-Harris as part of a “no holds barred” campaign in primaries across the country, thousands of protesters descended on the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, where demonstrators held signs reading “Abandon Harris 24.”

On Monday, protesters breached a security fence just a few hundred yards from the United Center, leading to four arrests, CNN reported. Notes.
Protests turned violent Tuesday night, leading to 72 arrests, the Associated Press reported.

Breitbart News also asked Goldman what he thinks Harris needs to do to appeal to moderate voters with the election fast approaching.
“I think the policy platform and the vision that you’re going to hear from Vice President Harris is one that helps all Americans, that’s focused on helping all Americans, and it’s focused on lifting everyone up so that the American Dream is attainable,” he said.
The message people can expect to hear from Harris contrasts with former President Donald Trump’s vision for America and the world, which she criticized as “very dark and pessimistic” and “cynical.”
Goldman, an heir to the Levi Strauss fortune, said he believed Trump would “run the government based on personal grievances” and “slash taxes on the super-rich” in a second administration.
“In the end, that doesn’t help the vast majority of Americans,” he added.
