‘I just want a Super Bowl’

Aaron Rodgers may have given Jets fans anxiety this summer, but now he’s offering them support.

Rogers, wearing his No. 8 jersey, embraced a crying fan while playing in the American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, on Wednesday.

“Aaron, I just want a Super Bowl!” a fan yelled, pumping his fist. “Please!”

Mr. Rogers walked away smiling.

The 40-year-old quarterback was among a bevy of celebrities who gathered for the annual golf event, along with other NFL attendees including receiver Davante Adams, quarterback Josh Allen and tight end Travis Kelce.

Rodgers’ presence at this tournament might not normally be prominent, but his whereabouts have been intensified since he was absent from the Jets’ mandatory minicamp and reportedly traveled to Egypt.

As for the feelings of the crying fans, it’s certainly easy to empathize.

The Jets have not appeared in the playoffs since the 2010 NFL season, the longest postseason drought of any major American sports team.

These struggles have meant the team has not appeared in a Super Bowl since winning Super Bowl LIII in 1969.

After acquiring Rodgers in a trade last offseason, the Jets were expected to finally end their quarterback curse and make a breakthrough, entering the 2023 season with the seventh-best Super Bowl odds and an over/under of 9.5 for win total.

However, the slump continued and Rodgers ruptured his Achilles on the Jets’ fourth play from scrimmage in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills.

Without the future Hall of Famer, the Jets finished the season with a 7-10 record for the second straight season.

But with Rodgers back and the Jets sporting the best roster in football on paper, they will be one step closer to opening their 2024 season when training camp opens on July 23 in Florham Park, New Jersey.
