Sen. Joe Manchin (D-West Virginia) said Sunday on CBS' “Face the Nation” that he would never vote for former President Donald Trump.
Manchin said: “Let me be clear: I love my country so much that I cannot vote for Donald Trump. I think UI wants to give people choices.”
He added, “I think we'll see, but we'll need to know what's going on. If there's any movement against a third party, I think that's your question. Can we bring about change? I'm not going to spoil it, never have been and never will. But people want choices and change. So we'll see what happens. We'll have to give it a try and hopefully things will resolve themselves by then.”
Anchor Margaret Brennan said, “So you're not closing the door on running for office yourself?”
“I'm going to do everything in my power to save our country, and I'm going to do whatever it takes,” Manchin said. I will help anyone and support those who I think can help this country the most. Go back to this common sense, common sense centrist, working with the centre-left, the centre-right and the majority. You cannot govern from extremes. ”
