Texas Man Held Hostage After Dog Accident

Police reported that a Texas man, who remains unharmed, became infuriated when his pet dog was killed, forcing the driver to assist in burying it at gunpoint.

Alberto Joshua Hernandez, 22, allegedly felt “scary” after the incident, which occurred on September 8 in Mineola when the dog was fatally struck. This was mentioned by sources close to the situation.

According to the authorities, Hernandez halted the truck behind the victim’s vehicle, brandishing an automatic weapon. He proceeded to retrieve the dog’s body from a nearby ditch, compelling the driver to carry it to his yard.

Documents reveal that Hernandez ordered the man to dig a grave while he kept the gun aimed at him, confiscating the victim’s car keys and phone in the process.

After burying the dog, Hernandez reportedly emerged with an AR-style rifle and two magazines. He then allowed the man to return to his vehicle, driving Hernandez’s car to an ATM to withdraw cash as compensation for the dog.

The victim recounted his fear, stating he felt he would “die scared,” as Hernandez pointed the gun at him during the $200 withdrawal. Sources indicated he also took a photo of the driver’s license, claiming he knew where he lived.

Video footage from the ATM confirmed that the victim handed over the cash to Hernandez, who was in the passenger seat with the firearm.

Later, the victim identified Hernandez during a police lineup on September 19, and his mother testified to seeing him with a rifle that same day.

Police arrested Hernandez in Mineola last Thursday and charged him with aggravated robbery, aggravated assault, and drug offenses. He is currently held at the Wood County Jail with a combined bond set at $660,000.
