Tucker Carlson, a former host at Fox News, claims that leaders in the U.S. are neglecting the needs of everyday Americans and expresses support for forming a third party.
In a discussion with the Columbia Journalism Review, Carlson emphasized the importance of creating a political movement focused on enhancing American lives instead of getting caught up in foreign disputes.
“I intend to help set up a third party,” Carlson stated. “There needs to be a genuine effort to determine what truly benefits the country.” He pointed out that for many earning $60,000 a year, life is becoming increasingly difficult, with expectations for their future dimming. “No one seems to care about that,” he remarked.
He criticized the U.S. government’s apparent prioritization of foreign issues over domestic ones.
“What about Hamas?” Carlson questioned. “I have no vested interest in Hamas. The government should focus on the well-being of its own citizens.”
Carlson expressed his desire to help create a new political party but clarified that he does not intend to run for office himself. “I don’t want to be a candidate,” he noted.
Details regarding what this new party might look like or when efforts to establish it would commence were not specified.
He dismissed suggestions that he was strategically positioning himself in relation to traditional conservative media, stating that his editorial choices are more instinctual than planned.
“I’m not strategic at all. I rely on intuition for most decisions. I honestly have no idea who’s tuning into our show,” he said.
On the topic of his communications with President Trump, Carlson mentioned that he hasn’t spoken with him since tensions with Iran escalated. “I haven’t reached out to him since the regime change conflict began. I feel for him. He seems to have lost control over his own life,” Carlson expressed.
He has distanced himself from the Republican Party, especially during the Israel-Iran situation, stating earlier this year that he couldn’t support a party that appears to prioritize foreign concerns over those of American citizens. He also criticized the Trump administration for focusing on Middle Eastern issues rather than strengthening ties with Canada, a key ally.
