On Wednesday’s CNN Newsnight broadcast, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said she has “always had doubts” about whether Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is “capable of making peace.” He stated that an investigation that goes beyond the investigation is necessary. Israel is holding a strike that killed World Central Kitchen workers in order to obtain more weapons.
“Prime Minister Netanyahu has to bounce back. He has never been a peace-minded person. For decades, I have wondered if he could make peace, wanted peace, or was afraid of peace,” Pelosi said. And I’m very sad about what happened on October 7th. What the terrorist organization Hamas did in Israel was brutal, and Israel’s response was serious. So we want to help Israel protect itself, not just to ensure the safety of its children and families in dangerous areas. It also benefits us by preventing starvation, starvation and dehydration.”
She added: “What we said in a letter about a week ago is that there needs to be an investigation into how it happened and that until that happens, no more weapons should be given. The Israeli side is currently conducting an investigation. I personally think there needs to be an independent investigation into how it happened. But nevertheless, the letter we sent is that you need to investigate this because we need to know how something like this happened. It was very secretive.”
