‘I Regret’ Voting for Laken Riley Act, Dems Aren’t Opposed to Deporting Criminals

At CNN's City Hall on Thursday, Rep. Jahana Hayes (D-CT) said he regretted voting in favor of the Lakeken Riley Act and thought the Trump administration “wanted border security.” It also maintains that Democrats are not opposed to deporting criminals.

“I voted for that law because of a very specific provision. If it caused an injury or death to a police officer, it was one small part. They wanted to have border security. They wanted to work with Democrats.”

Later in the City Hall, Hayes said, “The Democrats are not opposed to anyone who committed a crime or is illegal here.” However, opponents of the Laken Riley Act had concerns about the legitimate process.
