On Thursday, on FNC’s “Fox & Friends,” former President Donald Trump responded to a recent speech by his successor, President Joe Biden, announcing his decision to step down from seeking reelection.
Trump called it a “coup” from within the Democratic Party.
“I think it was a coup,” Trump said. “They didn’t want him to run. He was pretty low in the polls and they thought he was going to lose. They went to him and said, ‘You can’t win the election unless I do something really stupid, which I think is true, but I wouldn’t do anything like that. I think he was pretty low. They said, ‘You’re not going to win. You’re not in good shape, you did badly in the debate.’ I think the debate is where it all started.”
The former president blamed Representative Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and former President Barack Obama for Biden dropping out of the presidential race.
“I know a lot of people on the other side, too, who shoved him between Pelosi and Obama and some of the other people you see on TV,” he continued. “And it was interesting,” he continued. “I was watching them on TV and they were acting all nice, like, ‘Oh, yeah, we love you. Behind the scenes we love you.’ It’s true that they were cruel.”
