Minneapolis Mayor Addresses Gun Violence and Community Sentiments

During a recent segment on MSNBC’s “Briefing,” Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey (D) responded to discussions surrounding the city’s transgender identity and the sentiment of anti-Trump feelings. He acknowledged the prevalent issue of gun violence in the community.

Host Jen Psaki remarked, “We’ve criticized attempts to use certain details against individuals, including ourselves. There’s still a lot we don’t know. The local police are somewhat hesitant to share details about whether an individual is transgender or if their actions were politically motivated against Trump.”

In response, Frey stated, “Those who use this situation to target transgender individuals have completely disregarded our shared humanity. It’s not about hatred; it’s about love for our children. No child should have to die like this. As part of the Catholic community, we need to stand together and take action now.”

He went on to say, “I’m not an expert on all the legal intricacies of gun laws nationwide. What I do know is that firearms can flood our cities easily. It’s alarming to think that someone struggling with their mental health could commit such a horrific act.”
