Former President Donald Trump said in a statement Saturday night after a shooting at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania that he was the one who was shot.

“I want to thank the United States Secret Service and all of law enforcement for their swift response to the shooting that occurred in Butler, Pennsylvania,” Trump said. “More than anything, I want to express my condolences to the family of those who died at the rally and the family of those who were seriously injured. It’s unbelievable that something like this could happen in our country.”
“At this time, we don’t know anything about the shooter, who is now deceased. I was shot above my right ear,” Trump continued. “I knew right away something was wrong because I heard the whoosh and the gunshot and felt the bullet go through my skin. I was bleeding heavily and realized what was happening. God Bless America!”
The Secret Service released a statement about the attack Saturday night.
“The incident occurred on the evening of July 13th at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania. The Secret Service had protective measures in place and the former president is safe. The Secret Service is currently investigating and will release more information as it becomes available,” Secret Service Communications Director Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement.
