"I Wasn’t Heard When I Said No": Jenny Racicot Shares Her Account of Alleged Sexual Assault by Graham Platner

Maine Resident Alleges Assault by Senate Candidate

During an appearance on CNN’s “The Lead,” Jenny Racicot, a 41-year-old resident of Maine, shared her experience concerning her former partner, Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner. She accused him of forcing her to have sex five years ago.

Host Jake Tapper questioned her perception of honesty regarding Platner, to which Racicot simply responded, “No.”

Tapper pressed further, asking about the timeframe, specifically mentioning 2021. Racicot recounted, “It was at the end of 2021. I remember it clearly because it happened right after I returned to my winter home. It was during a night when Kim and I were texting. He interpreted my text as an invitation, but I quickly clarified that I wasn’t interested and told him not to come over. I felt I had made my stance clear.” She continued, describing the unsettling moment when Platner unexpectedly entered her home, which was unlocked—a decision she regretted: “I thought he took my message seriously, but then I heard a noise outside, and he entered.”

Racicot described her discomfort, stating, “I was getting ready for bed, and then he jumped on top of me, indicating his intentions. Initially, I was firm, telling him that I wasn’t interested and just wanted him to stop. But it felt like he wasn’t really listening. I looked into his eyes and noticed a distinct look, paired with a strong smell of alcohol. It was a chilling realization. His gaze was blank, a moment that’s etched into my memory. It didn’t feel like a normal interaction.”
