I Would Bet Trump Is a ‘No-Show’ for the Debate

Democratic strategist James Carville said Monday on MSNBC’s “The Beat” that he doesn’t think former President Donald Trump will attend the upcoming presidential debate on June 27 on CNN.

Moderator Ari Melber said, “If you watch the debate next week, even people who don’t follow it as closely as news viewers will realize that there is a debate. I just want to let you know, there are new rules next week. There will be no opening statements, you have two minutes to answer each question, and when the time is up, a red light goes on. That’s a big win for the Biden campaign given that Trump is a rule breaker. Any other candidate who is not speaking will be muted when it’s not their turn.”

“Well, if I were a gambler, and I am, I would bet on Trump not showing up,” Carville said.

“Haha,” Melber asked, “you don’t think Trump is going to be there next week?”

“I don’t know, but I think he’s going to wake up and make a decision,” Carville said. “He said he would testify in his defense at trial. He didn’t even defend himself. Let him go to court. I wouldn’t be surprised, but I think he’ll say even if he was offered the money, he’s not going to go to court.”
