In New York City, nothing says romance like rodents.
The Big Apple is chock-full of wildlife, from party animals to high-class dogs, but there's no bigger beast in the city than the rat.
And now, the pest is making headlines online after it allegedly invaded the Lovey-Dovey Exhibition in midtown Manhattan on Thursday night.
on video Shared by content creator @PaperMiisheA man was seen on bended knee proposing to his girlfriend outside 1221 Ave. Americus, just outside Rockefeller Center.
This area was decorated with Christmas decorations, including glittering lights and a large Christmas tree, but in the middle of the proposal, a mouse came running out of it.
“If it had been me, the rat would have ruined the whole proposal because it would have been running down the block,” she says below a clip of the four-legged fluffy pest photobombing the romantic moment. Someone who made a creepy comment wisely said:
“The rat is very New York,” joked another.
Sorry, Pizza Rat. The Proposal Rat is making inroads into the Big Apple.
For now, the identities of the couple and the mouse remain unknown.
But while the mouse proposal may have ruined that beautiful “Will you marry me?” moment for some, a few New Yorkers who weren't so freaked out by the funky infringement It is said that some people have made this big demand even more symbolic.
“The mouse really told me this was a New York love story,” a fan of the interrupter commented.
“The mouse was the cue to ask the question,” teased an equally ticklish onlooker.
“Real-life Cinderella,” joked another, comparing her new fiance to a fairy tale princess whose pet mouse made their dream relationship a reality.
“Rats are part of the New York experience,” the proud Gothamite cheered.
