Ian Rapoport Comments on Vrabel-Russini Scandal
NFL insider Ian Rapoport expressed his concern over the public unfolding of the situation involving Dianna Russini and Mike Vrabel. He recently spoke about it on a podcast, addressing various pressing soccer topics, but when it came to the controversy, he revealed that it was not a discussion he relished, due to his familiarity with both individuals.
“I haven’t really seen that among the people I know,” Rapoport mentioned. “It’s really different… it’s not good, it’s sad, and, I mean, it feels like this happens everywhere.”
The personal lives of Vrabel and Russini gained attention after a photo surfaced on April 7, showing them holding hands at a luxury resort in Arizona.
Shortly after, another image emerged showing both Russini and Vrabel, who are each married, kissing at a Manhattan pub in 2020. As a result of the backlash, Russini resigned from her role at The Athletic, and media outlets have initiated investigations into the matter.
Due to the escalating drama, Vrabel was unable to attend the final day of the draft last month and is currently seeking counseling.
Rapoport, who has collaborated with both individuals over the years, summed up the situation as “much sadder than I expected.” He noted, “I don’t want anyone at any level to go through what everyone involved in this case is experiencing.”
Since her resignation, Russini has not made any public comments. Meanwhile, Vrabel continues to serve as the head coach of New England, stating that he aims to provide “the best version of myself that I can be” for his family, team, and organization.
