ICE now encountering an '830% rise in attacks'

DHS Warns of Surge in Attacks Against ICE Officers

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) stated on Tuesday that exaggerated claims from mainstream media and politically charged rhetoric are significantly contributing to a rise in attacks on federal immigration enforcement agents.

Between January 21 and July 14 of this year, the DHS reported an alarming 830% increase in assaults against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials compared to the same period last year.

“Brave ICE law enforcement are risking their lives every day to keep our communities safe from the worst of the worst criminals,” commented DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “ICE law enforcement is succeeding in removing terrorists, murderers, and pedophiles from American communities. It’s disheartening that while they’re just doing their jobs, they face such threats.”

In recent weeks, many Democratic politicians and left-leaning media outlets have escalated their criticism of ICE. According to the agency, several Democratic congressmembers have engaged in improper actions, including publicly sharing personal information and, in some instances, attacking ICE personnel.

For instance, Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-N.J.) was charged with serious federal offenses after an incident at the Delaney Hall ICE detention center in Newark on May 9. Allegedly, during a congressional oversight visit, McIver pushed and struck an ICE officer. She now faces three felony counts related to her actions against federal officers.

Additionally, Representative Salud Carbajal (D-Calif.) has been accused of inciting violence by showing an ICE employee’s business card to a hostile crowd, leading to the employee being assaulted with a rock, which required emergency medical treatment.

“In Portland, ICE officers have been doxxed and intimidated by local organizations linked to antifa, who have posted their photos and personal addresses. One officer even had someone show up at their home and dump trash on their lawn, with derisive signs targeting them,” the agency noted.

Despite this, many in the mainstream media keep spreading alarmist and misleading narratives about ICE operations. For example, in a recent raid, federal agents rescued 14 children from potentially dangerous situations, but some reports erroneously stated that a man had died while in custody. In reality, the man involved climbed a greenhouse roof and fell about 30 feet, unrelated to any law enforcement action.

Critics in the media have also accused ICE of “targeting” children. However, ICE allows detained parents to remain with their children during removal proceedings or designate a trusted person to care for them, emphasizing a commitment to family unity.

The DHS has persistently refuted these misleading claims, arguing they only serve to vilify federal law enforcement, especially ICE agents, who are carrying out their legal responsibilities. This surge in disinformation creates a dangerous environment, increasing animosity and violence against law enforcement officials.
