I’d Fire Austin ‘in About Five Minutes’

On Friday's broadcast of NewsNation's “The Hill,” Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Mass.) said it was up to President Joe Biden to decide whether Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin would remain in his job, but that “I If that's the case, I'll probably fire him in about five minutes.” ” and “When I was a 15-year-old busboy, I never could have imagined something like this could happen. If you missed a week, you had to report it to your boss.”

“What he did is totally unacceptable. I can't imagine something like that happening at the lowest level of a military chain of command, like where I was as a mere first lieutenant platoon leader in Iraq,” Moulton said. When I was a 15-year-old busboy, I couldn't imagine something like that happening. If you were going to take a week off from work, you had to tell your boss. That meant this was up the chain of command. It's a huge failure, and the commander in chief needs to make a decision here. It's up to the president to fire Secretary Austin, but to be clear, he needs to send a decisive message that something like this will never happen again. I need to send it.”

Host Blake Berman then asked, “If you had to make a phone call, what would you do?”

Moulton responded, “If I were president of the United States, I would fire him in about five minutes.”
