The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed on social media on Monday that it had killed a Hamas commander who took part in the terrorist group's invasion of Israel, which crossed the border on October 7 and massacred 1,200 people.

The Jerusalem Post reported that Misma led the terrorists to Kibbutz Kisfim and instructed the militants to destroy the communities of Nirim and Be'eri.
The Israel Defense Forces said Misma was killed in an Israeli Air Force airstrike led by ground troops.

In the same post, the Israel Defense Forces said it had attacked terrorist targets run by Hamas and Islamic Jihad and used in the war effort. The IDF said its forces discovered a significant amount of weapons during the operation.
Troops also destroyed a launch pad and eliminated a terrorist group that allegedly attacked IDF troops with mortar shells, as well as identified and eliminated terrorists firing rockets in Khan Yunis.

The post came as Israel announced plans to partially withdraw its troops from Gaza in the coming months as its war with Hamas enters a new phase.
The shift means the IDF will focus on more targeted operations against Hamas and reduce the use of artillery and air strikes.

It also means some reservists called to active duty will return to civilian life to stimulate the economy, according to Reuters.
The changes represent a shift in the way Israel goes after Hamas, but Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said over the weekend that the war would continue for several more months.

“This will take at least six months and involve intensive clearance operations against the terrorists,” an Israeli official told Reuters. “No one is talking about the doves of peace flying from Shajaia.”
