IDF general credits Trump threat as ‘big change’ in securing cease-fire after Hamas rejected same deal in May

IDF Reserve Brigadier General Amir Abibi said “two things” have changed regarding the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas after 15 months of conflict in the Middle East.

“This deal has been under consideration since May last year and Hamas was totally against it. Why? There was no real pressure on Hamas,” Abibi told Your World on Wednesday. spoke. “Israel wanted to cut off some of the humanitarian aid, especially gasoline, but the regime wouldn't allow it. So Israel doesn't have much influence over the humanitarian aid.”

“Two things have changed,” Abibi told Fox News. “One is that Israel has defeated Hezbollah, and Hezbollah can no longer support Hamas. Syria has also collapsed. Iran has become weaker. But the big change is the threat of President Trump.”

When asked if President Trump deserves praise for the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, Biden stammers, “Are you kidding me?”

“President Trump once threatened them that there would be hell if they didn't release the hostages… but they understand that if they don't get a deal now, the chances of getting a good deal are very slim. So they're more likely to make their own assessments and make trades looking to make the most of what they can get now, rather than waiting to see what “hell” means. Yes,” Abibi said.

On Wednesday, President Biden's White House national security and communications adviser, John Kirby, identified President-elect Donald Trump's incoming Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff as a key figure in brokering a deal.

President-elect Donald Trump Warn Hamas On January 7, he said that if the hostages were not returned by the inauguration, “all hell is going to happen.”

The agreement is scheduled to go into effect on January 19, the day before President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration.

Mr. Abibi expressed uncertainty about whether an agreement between the two countries could be reached and warned that Hamas could “take various schemes and try to deceive Israel in some way.”

Abibi stressed that this is “just the beginning” and we need to “wait and see”.
