The Israel Defense Forces said on Sunday they had spotted “numerous suspicious aerial targets” crossing the border from Lebanon, and Israel launched multiple interceptors to slam the targets into the ground.

According to an IDF press release, the waterfall was spotted next to Kibbutz Ayelet HaShahar after sirens were heard in northern Galilee.

An IDF officer and soldier sustained moderate injuries in the incident and were both taken to hospital for treatment, and the families of those injured have been notified, the IDF said in a statement.

The IDF said it was determined to be a false identification after sirens were sounded in the areas of Kiryat Shmona and Kfar Giladi.

IDF spokesman Maj. Gen. Daniel Hagari told a news conference that troops were being deployed to several areas, including the Gaza Strip, Lebanon, Judea and Samaria, to thwart threats against Israel.

Hagari added that in Gaza, the IDF is focusing on finding and neutralizing underground infrastructure in the Rafah neighborhood and the Philadelphia Corridor, with dozens of tunnels having been discovered so far and investigated, neutralized and destroyed by the military.

Hagari said not all of these tunnels are active – some are old and have already been addressed by the IDF – but all of them are in the process of being neutralised.

Hagari said two Israeli nationals were killed and two others injured in a stabbing attack in the city of Holon on Sunday morning, and that the terrorist was neutralised by police at the scene.

Hagari said that on Saturday, the IDF and the Israel Securities Authority prepared a response to an alert about a terrorist group in the Tulkarm area of the West Bank. Hagari said the group was on its way to carry out a terror attack in an axis or community, but the aircraft eliminated a group of five terrorists who were in a vehicle.

Later that day, a counter-terrorism operation by the IDF and Israeli military took place in Tulkarm, killing four terrorists who had been fired on by aircraft at Israeli forces. Hagari said troops also provided support from the ground.

After the operation, troops found a huge amount of firearms, ammunition and military vests, many of which Haghari said had been brought to Judea and Samaria from Iran.

“Iran has long provided weapons and funding to terrorist organizations across the Middle East, including by smuggling explosives into Israeli territory for use in terrorist attacks against civilians,” Hagari said. “The IDF and ISA have already thwarted numerous attacks in which claymore explosives were smuggled into Israeli territory. We remain committed to countering Iranian terrorism wherever it occurs.”
