Speaking on Fox News Channel’s “America Report” on Friday, Israel’s U.N. Ambassador Gilad Erdan slammed the UN as an enemy of “American and free world values” that is used to “cover up” the crimes of dictators and thugs, and argued that the U.S. should consider halting its funding to the UN unless fundamental reforms are made.
“I think the most important thing is to understand that the UN has completely lost its credibility. The UN is no longer a true human rights organisation. And as long as the UN does not defend human rights, [goes] Perhaps the US government should really seriously consider making some fundamental changes. [defunding] I don’t know if the UN audience is aware of the fact that they are paying $19 billion, almost $20 billion, every year. Instead of strengthening the values of America and the free world, the UN is weakening its own values, because today the UN is being used by dictators and rogue states to cover up their crimes. Iran was also recently elected chairman of the Human Rights Social Forum. This is not a myth.”
